DIN Deactivation ₹5,000 Fee: How to Avoid and Pay It

DIN Deactivation ₹5,000 Fee Explained, handled by CA Rinky Vishwakarma, ICAI 177507, at SVT & Associates.

₹999Professional fee · MCA fee shown separately

The ₹5,000 charge is the MCA fee for reactivating a DIN that was deactivated because DIR-3 KYC was not filed on time. It is a flat amount, not linked to the delay, and is paid in addition to the KYC filing itself. Filing within the cycle avoids it entirely.

DIN Deactivation ₹5,000 Fee: How to Avoid and Pay It

The fee is a flat ₹5,000 regardless of whether you were one day or one year late, so there is no benefit to postponing once the DIN is deactivated. Each additional week only prolongs the period during which the director cannot sign.

The best outcome is to avoid the fee altogether by checking your due date and reporting changes within 30 days. If it has already happened, filing at once limits the damage to the fee and a short delay.

Situations where this applies

Common Questions

When is DIR-3 KYC due now?

Under Rule 12A as amended with effect from 31 March 2026, DIR-3 KYC is due by 30 June of the year following every third consecutive financial year. Directors who had completed KYC before the change have their next filing due by 30 June 2028. Send us your DIN and we confirm your own date.

Do I still have to file DIR-3 KYC every year?

No. The annual requirement with a 30 September deadline was replaced by a once-in-three-years filing. What has not changed is the duty to report a new mobile number, email address or residential address within 30 days, which applies at any point in your three-year cycle.

What happens if I miss DIR-3 KYC?

The DIN is deactivated, which blocks the director from signing MCA filings for every company or LLP they serve. Reactivation is done through DIR-3 KYC Web with a flat government fee of ₹5,000. Our professional fee of ₹999 is charged separately, and we confirm the position before you pay.

Do I need a digital signature certificate for DIR-3 KYC?

Only when the filing updates your mobile number, email address or residential address. That kind of filing needs the director's digital signature and certification by a practising CA, CS or CMA. A routine three-yearly KYC with no changes is verified through OTPs sent to your registered mobile and email.

Which documents do I need to share?

For a routine filing you need your DIN, PAN and access to the mobile number and email registered against the DIN so you can approve OTPs. NRI and foreign directors add passport details. If you are updating an address, keep a recent address proof and your digital signature ready.

What if I change my mobile number, email or address?

Report it through DIR-3 KYC Web within 30 days of the change. This is required even when your three-year KYC is not yet due, and it does not restart your cycle. Because it alters your record, the form needs your digital signature and a CA's certification.

How long does the filing take with SVT & Associates?

Once we have your DIN, PAN and your OTPs, we typically complete the filing within about one hour during working hours. MCA portal processing and status updates on the DIN itself are outside our control, so we share the acknowledgement as soon as it is generated rather than promise a fixed MCA timeline.

Who files it, and what do I get at the end?

SVT & Associates is a Chartered Accountancy firm, and the filing is prepared and, where certification is required, certified by a practising ICAI-registered CA with a UDIN. You receive the MCA acknowledgement with the Service Request Number so you have proof of every filing we make.

Is the ₹5,000 refundable if I file later?

Fees paid to MCA are government charges, and we are not aware of any refund route for a reactivation fee. That is why the best route is to file within the cycle. That is why we advise filing within the cycle and reporting contact changes within 30 days, so the reactivation fee is never triggered.

Do all directors of the company pay it?

Only a director whose own DIN is deactivated pays it. Each DIN holder is separate, so a co-director with an active DIN is unaffected. A director whose DIN is active pays nothing extra, and each individual's position is checked separately.
