Quick answer

A stock certificate for an electronics or mobile dealer is a CA-signed statement of phones, appliances, accessories and spares held on a date, with old models and demo units shown separately. Dealers and distributors use it for bank CC/OD drawing power, limit renewals and GST ITC-01 claims above ₹2 lakh.

Electronics stock loses value with every launch

Electronics stock loses value fast. When a new phone or TV model launches, the old one often sells at a discount, and brands may give dealers price protection, a credit for the price drop on stock bought shortly before a price cut. We value current models at cost, older models at realisable value, and treat pending price-protection credits as a claim against the brand, not as stock value.

Serial numbers make electronics easier to verify than most stock. Phones carry IMEI numbers and appliances carry serial numbers, so we reconcile quantities with your billing system and, where the bank asks, sample-check serials physically. Demo units, open-box items and service replacements are shown separately, since banks rarely lend against them at full value.

Frequently Asked Questions

At the lower of cost and what they can realistically be sold for. If a model has dropped in price or been replaced, its value falls. We ask for your model-wise stock list with purchase dates and current selling prices, and flag older stock.
A credit some brands give dealers when they cut a model's price, for stock bought within a set period before the cut. Until the brand issues the credit note, it is a claim receivable. We show it separately rather than adding it to stock value.
For the certificate, we reconcile serial-wise quantities with your billing or inventory software. If your bank or insurer wants a physical check, we can sample serial numbers at your store or godown; that visit is quoted separately. The sampled serials are listed in our working papers for the bank.
A practising Chartered Accountant. SVT & Associates is a firm of Chartered Accountants in Goregaon West, Mumbai, and certificates are reviewed and signed by CA Rinky Vishwakarma, FCA, ICAI membership number 177507. Each certificate is on firm letterhead with the CA's signature, membership number, stamp and a UDIN.
Yes. ICAI has made a Unique Document Identification Number mandatory on all certificates issued by Chartered Accountants since 1 February 2019. Your bank, the GST officer or an insurer can check the UDIN at udin.icai.org, which shows the signing CA's name and membership number and confirms the document is genuine.
The standard fee is ₹1,999 plus GST for one location and one statement date, with books up to date. Urgent same-day certification is ₹2,999 plus GST, and monthly bank statements on a yearly retainer are ₹1,499 plus GST per statement. There is no government fee. Physical verification and multi-location cases are quoted in writing before work starts.
Usually one working day after we receive complete documents, if your stock register or Tally data is up to date. Urgent cases can be signed the same day. Manual records, several godowns or a physical count take longer, and we tell you the timeline before you pay.
No. You ask for a stock certificate yourself, and it confirms your stock position on a date. A stock audit is appointed and paid for by the bank, usually from its own panel, and includes a physical count and review. We can help you prepare for a stock audit, but the bank chooses the auditor.
At the lower of cost and net realisable value, as Accounting Standard AS 2 and Ind AS 2 require. Valuing stock at selling price is one of the most common reasons a bank's stock auditor cuts drawing power. The valuation basis is stated on every certificate we issue.
A stock register or Tally stock summary, purchase and sales registers for the period, a debtors ageing list, a list of unpaid creditors for goods, the bank's stock statement format and sanction letter, and the stock insurance policy. For GST ITC-01, purchase invoices with supplier GSTINs are also needed.
