In Detail

MIS Reporting Services: how it works and what to expect

What a useful MIS pack contains

An MIS pack is not a ledger dump. It is a short document that answers three questions: are we making money, where is our cash, and what needs attention now. Our standard pack therefore starts with a one-page summary and keeps the detail behind it for reference.

The summary shows revenue, gross margin, operating profit and closing cash against the previous month and the budget. A commentary of five or six lines explains the largest movements in plain words, so the owner can act without reading every schedule.

How MIS supports banks, investors and partners

Banks use monthly stock and debtors statements to set drawing power, and investors use burn and runway to decide on follow-on funding. When these numbers come from the same closed books as your statutory accounts, they agree with each other and with the audited figures.

For partnerships and family firms, a shared MIS ends arguments about who knows the true profit. Each partner receives the same report on the same day, and questions are answered from the ledger rather than from memory.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between MIS and financial statements?

Financial statements follow accounting standards and are prepared mainly for law, tax and lenders at year end. MIS is a monthly management view, with comparisons and commentary, designed for decisions. Both come from the same books, so the numbers agree, but MIS arrives faster and carries more analysis.

Can you prepare MIS in my bank's format?

Yes. We can prepare the quarterly operating statement, stock and debtors statement and drawing-power computation in the format your bank specifies, using the same closed books. The CA reviews it so the figures are consistent with your financial statements. Please share the bank's template at onboarding.

What if my books are behind and MIS cannot start yet?

We first complete the pending months through a backlog clean-up, which has its own fixed fee on this site. Once the books are current, the MIS runs on the 10th every month, and the earlier months are summarised so you can see the trend.

Who prepares and signs the work?

SVT & Associates is an ICAI-registered Chartered Accountancy firm. Every account is supervised and reviewed by CA Rinky Vishwakarma, Fellow Chartered Accountant, ICAI Membership No. 177507. Where a certificate or attest report is issued, it is signed by a practising CA and carries a UDIN.

How quickly can you start?

After a short consultation and receipt of your documents, onboarding usually takes three to five working days, and the first monthly books are delivered within seven days of receiving complete data. If a filing deadline is close, we handle that first and then complete the wider setup.

Is my financial data confidential?

Yes. As a Chartered Accountancy firm we are bound by the ICAI Code of Ethics on professional confidentiality. Your records are accessed only by staff working on your account, are shared through controlled folders or your own software, and are never given to third parties without your written consent or a legal requirement.

Which accounting software do you work in?

We work in your existing software, whether Tally Prime, Tally ERP 9, Zoho Books, QuickBooks or Busy, so you do not need to switch. Your licence and data remain yours at all times, and a full export of your books is available whenever you ask for it.

Are your fees fixed, and are there hidden charges?

Fees are fixed and confirmed in writing after we review one sample month of your data. Our fee and GST are shown on separate lines, and accounting has no government fee. Work outside the agreed scope, such as a backlog clean-up, is priced separately and agreed with you before it begins.

Do you serve clients outside Mumbai?

Yes. Most of our work is delivered online across India, using shared folders, your accounting software, video calls and WhatsApp. Our office is in Goregaon West, Mumbai, where local clients can meet the CA in person, but no visit is needed to start or continue the service.

Can I stop the service if I am not satisfied?

Monthly plans are not locked in, and you can end the service by giving us notice. You will receive your books, reconciliations and working papers in an exportable form. The Refund Policy linked in the footer explains how any advance payment is treated.
