Kochi is a major port and a historic spice-trading city, and Kerala's large NRI population sends remittances that fund shops, hotels, hospitals and small businesses across the region.
Kerala GSTINs begin with 32, and the state levies professional tax through local bodies. Spice and seafood exporters need shipment-wise accounting, foreign-currency receipts, and export-incentive tracking, while shipping agents handle large pass-through payments that must not be mixed with their own income and expenses.
NRI-funded businesses, from supermarkets to resorts, often have partners abroad, so their accounts must record capital introduced through banking channels, loans from non-residents and remittances in a way that matches regulatory filings. Infopark and SmartCity firms follow the IT export model with LUT invoicing.
Kochi clients begin with a review of capital and loan records for NRI-funded businesses, shipment-wise books for exporters and a pass-through ledger for shipping agents. Each is reconciled to bank advice, so what the books say about money from overseas agrees with what the bank shows and what your advisers file.

The classification follows the agreed terms and the foreign-exchange rules, so the books match the bank record and any regulatory filings your adviser prepares.
Yes. Money collected on behalf of principals, such as port dues and freight, is held in separate ledgers and shown as liabilities, while only the agency fee is income. Mixing the two overstates turnover and attracts unnecessary GST and income-tax questions.
Yes. Kerala's professional tax is levied through local bodies on a half-yearly basis, and we compute and track it in the payroll. Employers get a reminder of each due date and a record of deductions on every payslip. Registration with the local body is a separate step.
